Welcome to Robbinsdale Middle School
Robbinsdale Middle School is an innovative school that prepares its students to be engaged citizens with the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in the world today. As an authorized International Baccalaureate school, students are provided with a broad base of knowledge, an international perspective and higher order thinking skills.
The IB Curriculum offers familiar disciplines such as science, math, and language arts through a concept and inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. This approach creates “thinking classrooms with thinking teachers and students.” We are just as concerned with what we learn as we are with how we learn.
The international perspective comes through the global contexts: identities and relationships, orientation in space and time, personal and cultural expression, scientific and technical innovation, globalization and sustainability, and fairness and development. Teaching and learning through the global contexts gives meaning and purpose to the curriculum. It puts the “why” into learning. Students become engaged and are able to make connections between what they are learning and the world around them.
We also recognize the importance of preparing our students with exposure to the skills and knowledge most needed in the future. All students are part of STEAM. This means that students are exposed to the most needed 21st century skills through an integrated approach to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through our Project Lead the Way: Gateway to Technology courses and our strong arts program.
