Activities

At Robbinsdale Middle School, students may choose to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities including programs in athletics, fine arts, service and academics. These activities provide excellent experience in learning teamwork, leadership development, social growth, team spirit and respect for others. We invite you to encourage your student to participate in as many activities as their abilities and time allow.

All-District Band

All-District Orchestra

Students wishing to be in All-District Orchestra must audition for a spot. All district orchestra practices once per week and have 3-4 performances throughout the community and Twin Cities area.

Art Club

Art Club is an opportunity for students of all artistic abilities. Projects may include drawing, painting, and/or sculpture and clay. Students will determine the direction of the club. There may also be opportunities to create advertisements for school wide events and outreach.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a hands on, fun group for creative problem solvers and innovators. Students have the option of choosing to solve problems in 7 areas: tech, science, engineering, improvisation, fine arts, service learning, as well as an instant “unknown” challenge. The team competes against others at the local, regional, state, and national levels.

Fall Play

Typically, this is a six-week program designed to help interested students hone their acting skills. Students learn about stage presence, projecting voice, public speaking, writing script, directing, and acting. As a group, students choose and write their own show.

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is for band students wishing to improve their musical skills in a smaller setting. Students are exposed to different genres of music that they don’t have an opportunity to play in band class. There are also 2-3 performances throughout the school year.

Math Team

National Junior Honor Society

Students wishing to be involved in NJHS must go through an application process to become members. Acceptance is based on a student’s overall GPA and willingness to be a leader and help serve the larger RMS community. NJHS helps fundraise for school activities and all students must complete a designated number of volunteer hours.

REBMAHC (Chamber Orchestra)

Spring Musical

Our spring musical is always quite the show! The musical is a great way to get involved for all of our aspiring actors, or those looking for a new experience. Student efforts in choreography, singing, speaking and projecting voice through auditioning and rehearsals culminates with 3-4 public performances.

Student Council

Student council is a student led leadership group. Anyone can participate in the RMS student council. Within the group, leadership roles are delegated. Student council helps to fundraise for RMS, coordinates school wide service projects, helps plan school celebrations and theme days, and advocates for the student body.

Select Choir

This small musical group is for all the singers out there! Together students choose the pieces to practice and perform. There are auditions for the Select Choir. Typically, select choir runs during the 2nd semester of the school year. There is no participation fee for this activity.

Video Crew

Video crew members learn the basics of video production. Components include editing, filming, green screen, voice overs and production. The group makes all decisions about what is produced and presented to the school. The crew also works with other school activities to promote events through video.

Yearbook

The yearbook staff is responsible for the overall content of the school’s yearbook. Staff members take pictures at events, write articles, survey students and staff, and design the layout of the book.
