Interscholastic Athletics

RMS sports are offered for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  The sports we offer are co-ed soccer, girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and boys’ and girls’ track. Practices will be held daily on Monday - Thursday afternoons from 4:15-5:30 PM when there are no games. Games, matches, and meets are held on various days of the week during each season and are held at different schools in the Classic Lake Conference. RMS is part of the Classic Lake Middle School Conference. Subscribe to RMS to receive athletic notifications at www.classicmsjh.org. By selecting “Notify Me” you can up-to-date information on all games, meets, and matches.

Cooper High School Cooperative Athletics

Minnesota State High School League rules allow 7th and 8th graders to participate at the high school level. RMS students would participate at Cooper High School. These are sports not directly offered at our middle school level and meant to give students the high school sports experience.  Those sports include:

• Soccer - girls
• Tennis - boys and girls
• Swimming - boys and girls
• Cross country - boys and girls
• Softball - girls
• Baseball
• Golf - boys and girls
• Lacrosse - boys and girls
• Wrestling

RMS students wishing to be on the Cooper track and field team in the spring, MUST participate on the Cooper cross country team in the fall. Students who play on a Cooper team can ride a shuttle  from RMS at 3:00 p.m. to the practice location.  Students can then take home the activity bus from CHS at 5:10 p.m.  The fee for these sports will be the same as the athletics offered at RMS. Students must complete Cooper’s registration forms, which can be found at www.letsgohawks.org. 

7th and 8th graders can also try out for Cooper’s varsity teams.  If they make the varsity team, they would need to pay the high school fee and abide by Cooper High School and MSHSL rules. Any RMS student who lives in the Armstrong High School attendance area can join the AHS Cooperative teams as long as they can provide a ride to AHS after school.
