Robbinsdale Area Schools has finalized building principal assignments for the 2026-27 school year following School Board approval of the district’s Statutory Operating Debt (SOD) plan.

At its business meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, the Robbinsdale Area Schools Board of Education approved the district’s Statutory Operating Debt (SOD) plan, as well as the boundary changes for the 2026-27 school year previously shared with the community.

Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale) wants to make sure families stay connected and informed throughout their student's educational journey by using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

As federal ICE and Border Patrol activity continues to impact communities across our region, we are sharing an important update. The safety and support of our students, staff, and families remain our top priority.

At its study session on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, the Robbinsdale Area Schools Board of Education continued its work to address the district’s required Statutory Operating Debt (SOD) plan. This included review of proposed boundary adjustments; a draft SOD plan that will need to be finalized, approved by the Board and submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education; and additional updates focused on middle school course offerings and high school programming transitions.

We are aware of false rumors circulating on social media about ICE or federal agents at Rdale schools. These claims are not true, and we are sharing clear information to reaffirm our commitment to safety, dignity, and belonging for all students and families.

In light of recent events, Robbinsdale Area Schools is reaffirming our commitment to safety, dignity, and belonging and highlighting resources available to support students, staff, and families.

The School Board approved changes to FAIR Crystal’s middle school program beginning in 2026-27, while maintaining the FAIR Pilgrim Lane elementary magnet program, as part of ongoing Vision 2030 and SOD planning.

At its Jan. 5, 2026 organizational meeting, the Robbinsdale Area Schools Board of Education welcomed a new board member and elected officers for the 2026 calendar year.

The RMS staff vs student volleyball games, which take place the two days prior to winter break, have been going on for 14 years. Yes, 14! It's an exciting time at RMS. The whole month of December is the volleyball unit. Students first learn skills and practice them. Then they pick their own team and create a fun, friendly, appropriate team name.  Students then play in pool play--three volleyball matches to determine their seed for the volleyball tournament.  The volleyball tournament is single elimination.  The team that wins their class bracket takes on their grade level teachers.  Teachers also enjoy this community event as it builds relationships outside the classroom with their students.  Friendly trash talking and smiles all around. 

Fun fact - Teachers have won every match since it started! Yay!

We are writing to share an important update for families who live in Minneapolis and open-enroll into Robbinsdale Area Schools and currently receive district-provided bus transportation.

The School Board has approved the first set of facility closures as part of the district’s Statutory Operating Debt plan. Transition planning will now begin, with additional Board decisions ahead.

The Robbinsdale Area Schools Board of Education held a study session on Monday, Dec. 8, as part of its ongoing work to address the district’s plan to address its statutory operating debt (SOD) and move forward with Phase I of Reimagine Rdale: Vision 2030. Board members reviewed the facility recommendations previously discussed, received additional information requested at the Nov. 24 meeting, and previewed procedures for the Dec. 15 public hearing on school closures.
