High school students support new middle school book club
Students from Armstrong High School recently led book club discussions with Robbinsdale Middle School (RMS) students.
The high schoolers were able to gain service hours for Student Council for their contribution. In addition to facilitating conversations, the Armstrong students read the books and created discussion questions.
For this first time event, middle schoolers were able to sign up to participate. Students selected the book they wanted to read and were later grouped with others who read the same text. The books used for the club are former classroom sets from an English class.
“We wanted to put them to good use and give students a choice in joining their friends in a book club,” said Julie Beatty, Media Specialist at RMS. “ One of the important aspects of being a reader is being able to talk about what you've read.”
