AVID Updates

College and career readiness have been in full swing quarter 4 at RMS! 

AVID combined with our federal Get Ready grant has had many positive impacts this school year. Students in both 7th and 8th grades have had access to post-secondary institution visits. Math students in Mr. Miskowiec has been playing the Stock Market Game and hosted guest speakers from Allianz Financial.

 

 

 

 

 

 

AVID 8 and some students from Culture & Identity courses will be visiting St. Cloud State University the first week of May. Students will experience eating in the college cafeteria. 

AVID 8 students partnered with Street Law programming to learn about the foundations of American law. Street Law was taught by two cohorts of U of M law students. Activities included a small group learning, jeopardy game, and a mock trial. Topics covered included civil, criminal, and immigration law. 

AVID recruitment is wrapping up for the 2026-2027 school year as interviews conclude this week. Applicants will receive a letter to confirm their 26-27 status. If you missed the application window, please speak with your school’s AVID coordinator in the fall to apply.
