Fall Conferences | We would like to invite you to our fall conferences: Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024 from 4:40 pm - 8:40 pm (Virtual only) Thursday, Oct. 24 from 4:40 pm - 8:40 pm (in person). All families will be able to schedule as of Monday, September 30, 2024. Are you looking for employment? Do you know someone who is looking for employment? Put Your Passion in Action ─ Become a Math Tutor! Robbinsdale Middle School is looking for a 4-8 Math Tutor for the 2024-25 school year beginning October 21st. You can take action in our community by giving your time and talent to help students build their skills and confidence! Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students during school hours throughout the school year. Whether you are a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent or retiree, you can make a great tutor! No experience? No problem. With training and on-site coaching, our tutors are prepared to help kids succeed. Part-time and full-time positions are available starting October 21st. Tutors receive a stipend every two weeks plus up to an additional $3600 for college tuition or loans (tutors 55+ may give the education award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child). AVID | AVID students have started to learn about and review the AVID tutorial process with our official AVID tutors. Students work in collaborative groups on their coursework throughout the year using a 10-step process. Cell Phones and Personal Devices | Parents, we need you to be our educational partners for your child’s success. Remind your students to keep their phones, air pods, headphones, etc. off and away during school hours. While most students are doing great, several are struggling with the new state mandate. If you need to contact your child please call the main office at 763-504-4800. Please read and discuss our Middle School information about our Robins not using personal devices during school hours here. We all want to be on the same page with our Robins and families. Espanol aqui. We have been reteaching our expectations regarding the new state policy on devices being off during school hours. Please help us by reminding your Robin to follow these expectations. |

We are a Full Service Community School FSCS | Our mission is to build a stronger, braver community for our students and families within the communities our schools serve. We believe Schools, Communities, and Families must work together to address the successful development of our youth. If the FSCS can assist with resources in any way, please feel free to reach out. We are located in RMS, room 106. Your child must have a pass from a staff member to visit FSCS. Our schools serve as resource centers open to everyone. If your Robin needs school supplies, backpacks, personal items, etc. we have them in room 106! Family Focus Group: $50 Gift card Compensation: In partnership with the Robbinsdale Full Service Community Schools (FCFS) program, Allina Health is conducting focus groups. We would like to hear about your questions, concerns, and resource needs related to substance use and middle schoolers. Your feedback will be used to develop content for changetochill.org by Allina Health. To thank you for your time and input, each family will receive a $50 gift card after the session is complete. It is not just about brushing and flossing, although that is the most important! IB/MYP | Quarter 1’s IB Learner Profile Trait is Caring. Learners will be having discussions and activities focusing on Caring this quarter in their advisories and through the day. They will also be choosing another of our IB Learner Profile Traits for projects in their advisory. Please, ask your student through the quarter about the traits and projects on which they are working. | |

It also reduces the cost of loss from $150 to $100 in the instance your student loses his or her Chromebook. Nurse’s Office | The health and safety of our students are our top priorities. Please ensure your child is up-to-date with their vaccinations and notify us of any medical needs or concerns. I got my nursing degree from the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Institute for Health Professions with an emphasis in pediatrics. I will be partnering with Sandy in the health office this year. Orange Shirt Day aka National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - is 30 September, we invite students and staff to wear Orange during school on this day (you can wear your shirts from the walk!) in honor and solidarity of survivors and victims of boarding schools. Cultural Activities & Events around the Metro Four Sisters Farmers Market at Powwow Grounds - Thursdays 11am-3pm in Minneapolis until October 31st Dream of Wild Health 1st Annual Corn Festival - 12 October 2024 in Hugo JUST ANNOUNCED: Snotty Nose Rez Kids (SNRK) at the Fine Line presented by KFAI, a hip-hop duo that blends Indigenous music and trap beats from Kitamaat Village, BC will perform at the Fine Line 21 November 2024 in Minneapolis. Note: their music is explicit so this is an 18+ show. Hoċokata Ṫi Cultural Center - Free to SMSC enrolled members and $5 for all enrolled citizens of federally recognized tribes; $8 regular admission. Student Support | From the school social workers: KIDPACK: A free small bag of groceries is available for interested students each Friday who are signed up. KIDPACK starts on Oct 4th, however, parents/guardians can sign up at any time during the school year. Please fill out the following short interest form. KIDPACK registration link Thank you! RMS has two School Social Workers. We can assist with many concerns including mental health support and referrals, attendance, school adjustment, friendship, housing, family crisis and more. If your family is experiencing homelessness please let us know so we can assist and support.
